Rest In Peace, Nia.

We lost a really sweet soul Wednesday night. I worked with Nia at Trumpet, and saw her quite a bit out & about. She and her mom came with us to the MS Walk earlier this summer. She will be dearly missed.

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans police arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with a knife attack at a Faubourg St. John bar Wednesday night. Eric Traczyk is accused of walking into Pal’s and attacking two people at about 9:15 p.m. He allegedly approached a man inside the bar, and the would-be victim tried to protect himself, police said. Traczyk then walked up to 30-year-old Nia Robertson, pulled back her head and slashed her throat, according to investigators. She died of her injuries. Robertson was an undergraduate of Clark-Atlanta and held a master’s degree from Loyola University. Her father, Neil Robertson, is an official with the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Robertson was working in the Road Home program. The suspect was immediately arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. Earlier in the day Thursday, police had said it appeared Traczyk had mental problems, but they later backed off from that assessment.

I posted the TV news report here. It’s difficult to believe.
