OUR LITTLE JOURNAL ABOUT DESIGN, TECHNOLOGY, AND NEW ORLEANS

The Historic New Orleans Collection approached us recently, asking for an enhanced method to accept online donations.  We developed a cost-effective but robust PayPal-based system and integrated it into their internally-designed and managed site.  The interface provides a number of options, including variable and recurring scheduled payments, a ‘give anonymously’ toggle, and a ‘tribute gift’ attribution mechanism – all tucked into a clean, nested form via jquery sliders.

ustreamUstream – broadcast iPhone video

Oh my.  This one looks very cool, and has got the office pretty fired up.  Broadcast streaming video from your iPhone.  Dangerous.

Ustream.TV is the live interactive video broadcast platform that enables anyone with a camera and an Internet connection to quickly and easily broadcast to a global audience of unlimited size.

Our friends Erik and Rami developed this gorgeous portfolio management system for artists.  Along with the system, they provide custom designed artist portfolios with support and hosting, all on an affordable budget.

Flutterflutter – WordPress custom write panels

We’re playing with Flutter for one-off type CMS needs – seems really good, though Ben has found some pretty serious bugs – if we can work around or resolve them, This may be a great, light solution for simple client edit needs.

mockflowmockflow – online wireframing/UI tool

We’re still road testing this web-based app, but so far it looks pretty neat.  Drag & Drop UI wireframe builder with a good library of frequently-used icons and devices.  Wireframes are always tricky to keep up to date, so we’ll see how well mockflow treats us over the long haul and report back…

Theo's

theo’s pizza

Our office was delighted a few weeks ago to see a new Theo’s had opened up on Canal in Mid-City.  Same menu as the Magazine store.  Aside from the killer pizza, the Jalapeno Bread Sticks are bangin, the drinks are gargantuan, and the staff’s great.  We’re big fans.

Tulane University’s Cowen Institute for Public Education Initiatives contacted us shortly after opening their doors. We work with them on a variety of on and offline programs. Their second-generation website is WordPress based, and incorporates brand guidelines and iconography developed by Trumpet.  We also designed and provided Cowen Institute staff with a branded Campaign Monitor template for their e-News program.

www.lakesidecamera.com – production & development

We do ongoing development work on behalf of Lakeside Camera Photoworks, an innovative local camera, prints and imaging provider.  We assist them with planning, domain management, consolidating content management systems, refreshing site and newsletter design systems, 3rd party systems integration, and secondary site development.

We recently launched an updated e-commerce site for Lakeside, integrating with a variety of 3rd party fulfillment and customization systems.

vimeo_tnVimeo – video management

Vimeo is our online video manager of choice. Elegant interface, less obtrusive branding, and better compression. Yum.  And if you rearrange the letters, it spells “movie”.  Even better.  YouTube for the creative class.

support_details_tnsupportdetails.com – tech support anger management

Absolutely love Support Details from Imulus.  This site allows clients to painlessly submit a profile of their computer configuration to us via email.  Gives us the means to identify our clients’ browser versions, plug-ins, display dimensions, etc – extremely helpful for the QA process.
